Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
1. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information Pet World ("the Service", "we", "us") collects when you use the Service, how we use it — including to generate AI content depicting a pet — and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
From you directly
- Account information: name and email address, collected when you sign up with an email and password.
- Pet profile information: the Pet's name, species, breed, gender, age at passing, your relationship to them, personality traits, hobbies, talk-style preferences, and any free-text notes you provide.
- Uploaded media: photos, videos, voice/audio recordings, and letters or writings you upload about the Pet.
- Content you post: comments, replies, likes, and reports you submit within the Service.
Automatically
- Basic usage and device information (e.g. browser type, access times) for security and reliability purposes.
3. How we use this information
- Create and maintain your account — account information
- Review your registration and build the Pet's AI persona — Pet profile information, uploaded media
- Generate AI posts, images, video, and voice in the Pet's likeness — uploaded photos/videos (reference image), voice recordings (voice reference), personality/talk-style description
- Deliver the family feed and notifications — account information, comments/replies/likes
- Respond to reports and enforce our Terms — reported content, reporter identity (visible only to our operators)
4. Third-party AI processors
To generate images, we use fal.ai. To generate text — captions, comment replies, and direct messages — we use Google's Gemini API. Relevant uploaded material (e.g. a reference photo, or the personality description) is sent to these providers solely to produce your content, under their standard commercial API terms; they do not use it to train their general-purpose models. Our database and uploaded-file storage are hosted on Supabase, and the Service itself is hosted on Vercel — both process data on our behalf as infrastructure providers, not as independent controllers of it. Payment for Pro and Max subscriptions is processed by LemonSqueezy, which acts as merchant of record for the transaction: LemonSqueezy collects your billing details (name, email, payment method) directly, and we do not receive or store your card details.
5. Who can see what
- Pet profiles, their posts, and comment threads are visible only to family members explicitly invited to that profile — never publicly.
- Our operators (backoffice staff) can view uploaded material and generated drafts in order to review and approve content, generate the AI persona, and respond to reports.
- We do not sell your data or a Pet profile's content to third parties.
6. Data retention & deletion
- Pet profile data (posts, comments, replies, and the source media you uploaded) is retained for as long as the profile exists.
- When a Primary Account requests deletion, it is immediate: all associated data — including originally uploaded photos, videos, voice recordings, and writings — is permanently deleted from our systems and from any AI-provider caches we control, and cannot be recovered.
- If a profile has no new posts, comments, replies, direct messages, or family members joining for 3 consecutive years, we automatically and permanently delete it and its uploaded material, even without a deletion request.
- Account information is retained until you close your account, after which it is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal/compliance reasons.
7. Voice and likeness data
Photos and voice recordings you upload may constitute biometric or voiceprint-adjacent data in some jurisdictions. We use this material solely to generate content for the profile you registered it under, and we do not use it to identify people across unrelated contexts. Where required by law, we will seek explicit consent before processing voice/likeness data and will honor applicable deletion rights.
8. Your choices & rights
- Access & correction: You can review and edit a Pet profile's persona details (where you have permission) from the product.
- Deletion: See §6. You may also contact us to request deletion of your own account information.
- Reporting: You can report content you believe violates our Terms; see the in-product reporting flow.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA) to access, port, or restrict processing of your personal data — contact us to exercise these.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect uploaded material and account data. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users as required by law in the event of a data breach affecting their information.
11. International transfers
Our AI processors and infrastructure providers may handle data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where this applies, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the EEA, and the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) for transfers from the United Kingdom, together with supplementary measures where appropriate, to keep your data protected consistent with this Policy.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify Members of material changes before they take effect.
13. Contact
Questions about this Privacy Policy, or to exercise your data rights: no dedicated privacy contact email is set up yet during this prototype phase — reach out through whatever channel you were given access to the Service. See also Terms & Conditions.
